"I look forward to supporting her confirmation in January and watching her bring much-needed reform to our intelligence community."
WASHINGTON, D.C. — After a week of successful meetings with senators on Capitol Hill, Tulsi Gabbard has received an outpouring of support for her confirmation as President Donald J. Trump's Director of National Intelligence.
Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN): "Today I had a great meeting with @TulsiGabbard, our nation's next National Intelligence Director. I look forward to supporting her confirmation in January and watching her bring much-needed reform to our intelligence community."
Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL): "Tulsi is going to be a great Director of National Intelligence… I know her meetings are going well and our conversation was great … I look forward to working together."
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY): "She's gaining momentum. There was a rally recently with military veterans — there are a lot of senators who have come out for her, so I think they're going to have a tougher time defeating her. They will try, and these are the people who are a part of what they call the 'bipartisan consensus' in Washington … a policy of eternal intervention. Those people are always going to be opposed to anyone who questions that. I, for one, am enthusiastic about her nomination and will do everything I can to try to help her."
Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN): "Under Gabbard's leadership, the intelligence community will return to its rightful purpose: defending the American people and upholding their constitutional freedoms. Together, Trump and Gabbard will implement reforms that ensure these agencies operate transparently and without any foreign influence from our adversaries. The challenges we face — both at home and abroad — require leaders of unparalleled strength, integrity and vision. Gabbard is that leader. With her at the helm of our intelligence community, we can begin to restore the trust of the American people and secure a safer, freer future for our nation."
Senator-elect Bernie Moreno (R-OH): "We're seeing incredible momentum. Obviously, Tulsi is one that's going to sail right through. We feel real positive about getting her nomination across the finish line."
Senator James Lankford (R-OK): "I had a great meeting with @TulsiGabbard today and we covered a lot of ground. I’ve had the privilege of serving on the Senate Intelligence Committee for years, and I understand how important the Director of National Intelligence is for our country."
Senator Ted Budd (R-NC): "Tulsi is tremendously intelligent and a longtime friend, and she’s a highly vetted lieutenant colonel in the United States Army Reserve, so I think she’s one we can certainly trust."
Senator-elect Jim Banks (R-IN): "Tulsi Gabbard is a patriot who has served our country for decades. I have full confidence she will be a strong leader in President Trump's admin who always puts America First."
Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND): "I agree with @realDonaldTrump, @TulsiGabbard is fearless and is a solid patriot and accomplished hero. She doesn't need the bureaucracy's approval, but she has mine."
Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI): "The uproar from the Uniparty over @TulsiGabbard's nomination to be Director of National Intelligence simply proves she’s the perfect choice. I look forward to voting in favor of her confirmation."
Senator-elect Tim Sheehy (R-MT): "As a combat veteran, Tulsi has put her life on the line for this country time and again, and I am proud to give her my full support to be Director of National Intelligence."
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC): "I very much enjoyed my meeting with @TulsiGabbard, who I have known for years. We served together briefly in a Capitol Hill reserve unit, and I believe she is a very bright person. We talked about the threats America faces and I look forward to continuing to engage with her on how to best defend our country. As I have said previously, I have a lot of deference for presidential cabinet nominations because I believe every president deserves their team. I look forward to hearing in more detail about Tulsi's views on the threats America faces through the confirmation process."
Senator Rick Scott (R-FL): "I believe she'll be confirmed and she will implement Trump's policies."
Senator Mike Lee (R-UT): ".@TulsiGabbard is a decorated combat veteran trying to save America from unnecessary foreign wars and end illegal government operations against the American people—which is exactly why they voted for Donald Trump. 'Experts' are angry at this rejection of their failed consensus."
Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK): "All this stuff that the Democrats [are] accusing her of being a Russian agent and stuff. I just always laugh ... I was like, 'You know she's been promoted twice. She’s a lieutenant colonel in the United States Army [Reserve]. If there was an issue with her background and her decisions, I think that would already be exposed by now.'"
Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO): "This is a reformer who can come in, who maybe is not a part of the same Washington cocktail party circuit that people in the intel community are used to, but maybe that's exactly what we need right now ... I'm a yes on Tulsi Gabbard — absolutely."
Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA): "[A] strong and proven leader"
Senator Mike Rounds (R-SD): "Good to sit down with @TulsiGabbard, President Trump's nominee to be Director of National Intelligence. As a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, I am looking forward to working with her as she continues to move through the confirmation process. Excellent first meeting."
Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL): "I proudly served alongside @TulsiGabbard on the House Armed Services Committee where we worked through complex national security issues. She has served in uniform and understands the threats we face around the world. I have absolute confidence in her ability to lead DNI."
Former CIA Chief of Counterterrorism Bernard Hudson: "It is wrong to fault Tulsi Gabbard for refusing to reflexively assent to every bit of elite, foreign policy conventional wisdom. Rather, independent thinking is an essential requirement of the job to which she has been nominated. The career intelligence community should take this opportunity to welcome a genuine, thorough review of its enterprise to win and keep the trust of the American people."
Former Deputy National Security Advisor Victoria Coates: "Tulsi Gabbard, get in there and shake this up."
New York Post columnist Joe Concha: "If legacy media had the influence they once did, one would expect these nominees to have zero shot at being confirmed. But here's the disconnect: Not one Republican senator is on record saying he or she opposes Gabbard ... Not one."
Hindu American Foundation Executive Director Suhag Shukla: "The Ugly Smears of Tulsi Gabbard's Faith Are Un-American—and Dangerous"
Reason Contributing Editor J.D. Tuccille: "Tulsi Gabbard is the intelligence director Americans need"
Lt. Gen. Daniel P. Leaf, USAF (Ret.): "The histrionic attacks on Lt. Col. Tulsi Gabbard miss the mark. I know Ms. Gabbard, and the only people who should be concerned about her serving as director of national intelligence are incompetent bureaucrats used to the status quo in our intelligence community."
Former Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell: "Tulsi Gabbard loves this country. She has served this country. She's a great patriot — and she doesn't want war. We shouldn't be criticizing people that are passionately talking about how to avoid war."
Former Speaker Newt Gingrich: "@TulsiGabbard is a lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve who served in Iraq, Kuwait, and the Horn of Africa. She has seen war in the Middle East, and she approaches endless conflicts with great skepticism about what they accomplish for America."
Rep. Nancy Mace (SC-01): "The fact that a former CIA officer doesn't want Tulsi Gabbard to be confirmed as DNI is exactly why Tulsi Gabbard should serve as DNI."
Rep. Tim Burchett (TN-02): "Remember Reagan was a Democrat. Another great choice by @realDonaldTrump @TulsiGabbard is a great choice."
Rep. Jason Smith (MO-08): ".@TulsiGabbard is the perfect pick to ensure our nation's intelligence community respects the Constitution and is working to achieve peace. Congratulations Tulsi!"
Rep. Brian Mast (FL-21): "Tulsi Gabbard is a decorated lieutenant colonel who isn’t afraid to put America First. She’s being attacked for that reason by the same people who pushed the Russia HOAX and claimed the Hunter Biden laptop was Russian disinformation."
Rep. Eli Crane (AZ-02): "[W]e are on the cusp of new leadership at our intelligence agencies. @TulsiGabbard & @Kash_Patel are committed to a culture of transparency."
Rep. Eric Burlison (MO-07): "Tulsi Gabbard is a patriot who served our country both in the military and in Congress. The Deep State is going after her because they are scared Trump might actually be able to stop the funding of the military industrial complex and put an end to these forever wars."
250+ U.S. military veterans, including Medal of Honor recipients, signed a letter supporting her nomination — lauding her as a "warrior whose vote cannot be bought."
American Center for Law and Justice: "The Deep State is panicked about Tulsi, not because of her qualifications, but because she will put America FIRST and root out the entrenched Deep State corruption."
Commentator David Brody: "Those making a big deal about Tulsi Gabbard's faith need to give it a rest. It has NOTHING to do with her qualifications to be the Director of National Intelligence. She is a PATRIOT who loves this country who has served our country with pride. She is a free thinker and we definitely need more of those in our government! Fresh thinking with a goal of peace not default war is a GOOD thing and should be celebrated. We should all be expressing 'mahalo' for her passion, intellect, and bright light."
Commentator Dave Rubin: "Yes, @TulsiGabbard is 100% the right person for the job…"
